UJJAYI PRANAYAM WITH KEJRI MUDRA

Type of Aasana : Basic/Intermediate


Basic Position : Sukhasan , Padmasan , or Siddhasan or any other aasan in which you feel comfortable for next 10 minutes.Mudra should be dnyan or chin mudra. Eyes closed .


How to do the Pranayam  :


  1. It means Ud-Bandhan and Jai-Mukti or vijay ,Thus meaning Victory over bandhan .
  2. Firstly be calm composed reduce the speed of thoughts and quantity of thoughts  breathe normally but deeply.
  3. Which each outgoing breath feel the relaxation in the body. Shoulders and face is relaxed throughout the activity.
  4. Rythim and speed are critical to this pranayam . 
  5. Now Do KEJRI MUDRA i.e. fold your tongue so that bottom of tongue touches the upper central teeths .
  6. Once this is done  you have to do Purak and Rechak through the throat which means image that there is hole in the throat and inhalation and exhalationis actually happening from throat instead of nose.
  7. The main difference in this pranayam you will observe that stomach will go inside while exhalation and then chest will lift.
  8. Sound and vibrations in this pranayam happens in throat . Sound is low like a snoring of a child or slow moaning.
  9. Purak and Rechak are big to max possible capacity volume. 
  10. Initially pattern 1 is suggested only using both nostrils open. which is explained above.
  11. Later stages pattern 2,3,4 can be done. However it should be done throuth one nostril only unlike nadi sodhan pranayam where we are doing purak and rechak alternately.
  12. This pranayam is not recomended for low BP or introvert persons. And on other side it is beneficial for high BP and extrovert person to calm them.




Variation :
1 Advanced practicioners can do this with  antarkumbh and bahir kumbh and with different patters of purak and rechak and different nostrils combinations. So there can be many combinations for this.
